And just like that my little human is 6 months old. In half a year you have already more than doubled in size and boy you are blooming! We started weaning officially from 5 and a half months old with a few unsuccessful attempts just before 5 months. With the earlier attempts it seemed that Hendrix's tummy wasn't quite ready to digest purees even though he would happily scoff them down. So we waited few more weeks and that worked for us. He loves his food and there isn't anything he's turned down yet. And yet is the key word here. I know a time will come when he won't want to eat mummy's purees but for now he's a little hungry hippo! His favourites are sweet potato, parsnip, butternut squash and banana. We have started giving a few finger foods and he enjoys feeding himself. Especially Ella's Kitchen melty puffs and mango the most. The biggest change for Hendrix has been the switch over from being exclusively breastfed to formula fed which was a surprisingly smoother transition than I was expecting. Phew! (More on that in the future) Roughly he has five 7 ounce bottles a day. And he still wakes up for a feed in the night, so no sleeping through yet for us but I really don't mind because he's sleeping much better since we made the transition to formula. So we're happy.
Speaking of sleep, at the moment we are still co-sleeping, mostly because he still wakes up in the night and partly because I love waking up to him talking to himself. It's so sweet. As for teeth, we have none yet but every time he opens his mouth we are sure we spot little white nuggets. Teething is the worst it makes him upset and its sad to see him in pain. I have my fingers crossed that the first two will make a break through in the next few months. Hendrix is inquisitive. He wants to touch and grab everything in reach distance or he will lunge his way to try and get anything he wants, which is everything. He can sit up on his own and roll from belly to back and back to belly occasionally. I think he just wants to crawl. Sometimes he can push himself backwards and shuffle a little bit. He has super strong chunky legs and will happily stand up supported. Now he loves whizzing around in his walker and he gets excited when he get closer and closer to you. He laughs and smiles all the time and he is a super content and happy baby.
It's been such a crazy rollercoaster since he's arrived into the world and it's even crazier to think in the next few months he might be crawling and all kinds of other things. Who knows what else he'll be up to. His next up date will be at nine months old. Eeek!
